Aloha Quilters of Kona
Ongoing Monthly Meetings:
About the organization:
Aloha Quilters of Kona is nearing it's 25 year anniversary. We have now grown to 50 members. We embrace all forms of fabric arts - quilting, dying, art quilts, etc.
Days & Times:
We meet the 3rd Saturday of every month
at 9:30 am
Location of Meetings: Christ Church Episcopal
81-1004 Konawaena School Road
Kealakekua, HI 96750
Directions to Christ Church:  From Kailua-Kona - Take Highway 11 to Konawaena High School Road in the town of Kealakekua.  Turn left. The church is on the right side of Konawaena High School Road, first driveway.

At the Aloha Quilters monthly meeting, we plan and schedule various learning activities that are designed to educate or demonstrate quilting techniques, patterns, or equipment usage.  In January, we provided a demonstration of how to make a "Folded Log Cabin" pattern.  In March, we are providing a "home sewing machine maintenance" demonstration.  Last fall, we set up 4 demonstration tables that provided basic quilting techniques as refreshers for everyone or as education for the new quilters.....(how to square up your quilt, how to make and complete the binding, how to use various new tools of the trade such as rulers, rotary cutters and mats, and how to attach hanging sleeves and labels that tell all about the quilt).

In addition to our Aloha Quilters meetings and activities, we also have opportunities to bring in Nationally known quilt teachers, designers, or product manufacturers for classes.  These are usually done on a community basis....meaning they are open to anyone to take the classes, while the Aloha Quilter classes are often for the members and guests of members during the meetings.

There are 5 quilting groups on the west side of the Island. What I would like to do is provide information to this website about the activities and classes these groups offer.
